One tip for when you don't feel creative 🎨

“The craft of questions, the craft of stories, the craft of the hands- all these are the making of something, and that something is soul. Anytime we feed soul, it guarantees increase.” ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Hello Creative Soul,

One of the biggest myths about creativity is that we have to feel creative before we create. But we don't wait until we're physically fit to go for a walk and we don't wait until we're calm to meditate. Creativity works much the same way.

When I don't feel creative, I like to move stuck energy around. Sometimes that looks like doodling for five minutes, writing a few imperfect sentences, moving my body in some way, getting out in nature or giving generous space for my blahness.

Creativity is typically not a lightning bolt. More often, it's a practice of showing up. If you're feeling stuck, uninspired, or disconnected, you might just need a small act of curiosity. Sometimes creativity returns the moment we stop demanding that it perform. This week, instead of asking, "Am I feeling creative?" try asking, "What am I curious about today?" You might be surprised by what happens next.

Process Painting groups continue throughout the summer, offering a playful and supportive space to reconnect with creativity without pressure, judgment, or expectation. I hope to create with you soon!

Big Love,

Elissa
