Is it gone, or is it just waiting on you?
Hello Creative Soul,
The most common comment I get when people walk into the studio is: "I'm not creative. I haven't held a paintbrush since kindergarten. I'm going to be REALLY bad at this."
If it's been months, years, or even decades since you last made something, does that mean you lose it? Does that part of you just die off?
I don't think so. But when we spend years playing it safe, following the rules, and putting out fires, the brain gets really good at compliance and really bad at play. Our expectations outpace our execution, and the inner critic starts screaming that we aren't creative and that making things is a complete waste of time.
Most people who walk into Wild and Free aren't trained artists. (Some are, and their inner critic actually sounds the exact same as yours!) Most haven't touched a paintbrush since elementary school. And yet, slowly, with a little time, curiosity, openness, and support, they find their way right back to their creative essence.
Your creativity is still in you. It never left. All those years you weren't creating? You were gathering story, depth, and perspective. Now, it’s just waiting to see if you'll invite it back out to play.
Do you feel like you’ve genuinely lost your creative edge, or are you waiting on enough curiosity to wake it back up? Let me know!
Fall back in love with your creative side in our upcoming series. Check out the dates below.
Big Love,
Elissa
