WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
Beautiful awakening evening last night at Wild and Free Painting. Thank you so much Elissa for guiding us through a journey within and thank you for creating this beautiful space of connectivity, inspiration and mindfulness.
So free...so happy...in the zone kinda feelings while doing process painting. "Process Painting” essentially means painting from the inside out. It is a tool for mindfulness and self-discovery facilitated in a safe, non-judgmental environment. I am not quite sure what unfolded on the paper, however, whenever I look at the painting it reminds me of freedom, joy and trust and for that I am forever grateful. I highly recommend it...still high on the vibes and the evening spent with a good friend. ~ Krista Lynn, Artist & Designer at KristaLynn Designs
"I'm very grateful for the opportunity to attend a workshop at Wild and Free Painting. I forgot how therapeutic painting was for me. That it's not about making art for anyone but myself; how the process itself is where the magic is. Art was such an important part of my life and I allowed myself to create an "I'm not good enough, I'm too much of an academic to be an artist," story. I stuffed this part of me away as I became a science teacher and now I realize that it can all exist together." - Dani Gianelos, Science & Yoga Teacher
"As one door closes on a chapter in my life, another one has opened giving me a view of creative possibilities I didn’t think still existed. When I was younger, painting took me to another place, always beckoning to a moment that helped me feel full and authentic. As years passed, painting became something to do only when I had the time. Eventually, I realized I never “had the time” and painting became somewhat like the love that got away. For years, I’ve wanted to get back to the canvas, even though in my mind I had fallen short of any progress as an “artist;” the voice inside me to pick up a brush, growing stronger especially these past few years.
By chance, I came across an invitation to an event called “Date to Create.” There, I was introduced to Process Painting. That night, I found myself once again reunited with that first love, the love I thought got away. Come to find out, it was always with me, just waiting for the chance to express its unconditional and passionate presence to me all along.
As we reunite and get to know each other once again through this workshop, I am so grateful for this practice that guides me in moving from one life experience to the next. Saying goodbye to a part of my life that was consistent, familiar and rhythmic has not been easy, but anticipating the next phase of creative exploration through the experience of Process Painting has felt exciting and hopeful. I no longer feel loss in letting go of one part of my life, but instead a sense of adventure in standing at the threshold of a new portal of creative living opening before me.
Process Painting has truly helped me rediscover the joy of living in my truest self—someone who finds bliss in embracing the moment, wonder in the mystery of personal expression that finds its voice through color and form, and peace in putting brush to canvas. For anyone standing at a portal of change or transition, Process Painting is a magical step to meeting the part of you who is ready to embark on the journey that encourages you to enjoy the view along the path of a creative life. Never mind the destination, never mind whether you consider yourself a master traveler/artist or not, never mind that art may not have drawn you before, Process Painting will surely help you see the beauty in cultivating your creative self where you are now, wherever that may be, through each brushstroke." ~ Leeanne S., March 2019, Language Arts and Mindfulness Teacher
"Thank you Wild and Free Painting for such an inspiring experience at my first Process Painting workshop at Ocean Waves Wellness. Such a freeing experience to paint, without specific directions, rules, or expectations. Just free to explore color, without thinking of how the canvas is “supposed” to turn out. Truly a metaphor for moving forward in one’s journey in life. Sometimes, trusting your own process and trusting your own instincts will lead you to exactly where you need to be." ~ Kerri Weiss, PhD - Founder of Ocean Waves Wellness Center
“Painting has always been a great love of mine . The idea of having a blank canvas in front of me and creating something all mine is beautiful in itself. So, when I had the opportunity to be a part of a class where not only do you get to paint but you also get insight into emotions expressed through the painting, I jumped right in. Elissa is a kind and knowledgeable therapist who truly loves what she does and wants to share her expertise with anyone who is open to the process. From the start of the class to the end it is calming, stress free and fun. The best part is no experience is needed and you walk away knowing yourself better. I highly recommend Wild and Free Painting!” - Jennifer Stover, Personal Trainer
“Elissa’s process painting class is simply exquisite. I was blown away in the session I attended with how skillfully she helped each participant show up and be fully present for what was true in that moment. I witnessed so much bravery and vulnerability as we all moved past familiar patterns to a deeper connection to what our souls were longing to express. I can’t wait for my next session! “ Jennifer Lawrence, LPC, ATR-BC - Licensed Professional Counselor & Art Therapist
“My first process painting was quite cathartic. I went in without any expectations. Elissa was so helpful in gently guiding me through the process. This really helped me to channel the emotions I had been struggling to come to terms with the past weeks. Elissa succeeded in creating a judgment-free space in which I felt free to explore and feel my emotions and express them on canvas. I highly recommend it!” - Amy Pelina
